Intumescent fireproof coating is a thin decorative paint that stays invisible under normal conditions — but reacts when exposed to fire. Under heat, the coating swells into a thick, insulating char layer that shields the steel from rapid temperature rise, buying time for evacuation, fire response and structural integrity.
